NEWSFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 12, 2004 CONTACT: Business Technology Source Wins Contract from San Francisco State University Shepherdstown, WV – July 12, 2004–Business Technology Source Wins Contract from San Francisco State University to Develop a Web-Based Test for American Sign Language. Business Technology Source (BTS) announced today that it has signed a contract with San Francisco State University to provide the technology for web-based testing that schools will be able to administer to children with hearing loss. The Test for American Sign Language is designed to determine the level of a student’s comprehension of American Sign Language. After logging on to a website, the student will be presented with a test that displays a series of animated images of a person conveying questions by using American Sign Language. For each question, the student will be able to select the correct answer from among several animated images of a person also communicating in sign language. No written language is used in the test. Schools are expected to be able to use the test to determine class placement for students who are deaf or have significant hearing loss. BTS produces custom web-based solutions for businesses, non-profits and educational institutions.
